Compare Text

Compare two pieces of text or source code side by side and highlight changed, added, and removed lines.

Privacy note: this tool saves drafts and the latest comparison result temporarily in your browser's localStorage only, so users can recover work if they leave accidentally. Saved data expires after 7 days or when the user clicks Clear. The comparison runs in the browser and does not need to send the pasted text to WordCounter.net.

Paste text or code into both boxes, then click Find Difference.

What is Compare Text?

Compare Text is a free online tool for finding differences between two versions of text, documents, or source code. It highlights changed lines, added lines, removed lines, and character-level changes inside modified lines.

Because the comparison happens in the browser, it is fast for typical writing and code snippets and avoids storing user text on the server. Draft text and the latest comparison result are kept temporarily in the user's own browser localStorage so accidental navigation does not immediately erase the work.
